LYNX 2008 FROZEN SEMEN CONTRACT

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS & GENERAL CONDITIONS

Prior to entering into a contract with the Mare Owner, Canterbury Farm needs to have a veterinarian's report as to the breeding status of the mare.

TO MAXIMIZE CONCEPTION RATES WITH FROZEN-THAWED SEMEN IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE MARE BE SELECTED VERY CAREFULLY. THEREFORE ONLY MARES WITH A GOOD FERTILITY HISTORY AND WITH NEGATIVE CYTOLOGY AND BACTERIOLOGY EXAMS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

A non-refundable Booking Fee of $ 500.00 plus G.S.T... of $30.00, will be paid by the Mare Owner upon execution of this agreement, the balance of the Stallion Fee $ 1,500.00 plus G.S.T. of $90.00 (the GST portion is not applicable if the semen is shipped out of Canada) must be paid before the frozen semen is shipped. The full fee must be paid or all terms, conditions and guarantees made by the Stallion owner are null and void.

The frozen semen container will be rented and shipped from Westgen at their current rate.

The Mare Owner shall pay, all reasonable and actual costs of transporting the frozen semen from Westgen

All money is in Canadian Funds. If you wish to pay in US Funds please email the Farm for the current exchange rate or go to xe.com to perform the calculation.

This contract may not be assigned or transferred. In the event the mare is sold or otherwise disposed of rebreeding will no longer be available. When semen is transported, it is understood that the semen be used only for the Mare designated on this contract. Further there shall be no substitution for the approved mare without the prior written consent of Canterbury Farm. Canterbury Farm shall not be liable to the Mare Owner or any other person for the failure of the mare to be bred or to produce a "live foal" for any reason whatsoever.

Should Canterbury Farm have to engage the service of an attorney to enforce payments due or the terms of this agreement, the Mare Owner shall pay all reasonable fees therefore including court costs and other charges incurred.

The collection/insemination record and thawing instruction sheet will either be emailed, faxed or sent by mail either with the container or before shipment.. The attending veterinarian must sign the record so that it may be sent by return mail to Canterbury Farm or the "return privilege" will not be honored.

Canterbury Farms shall not be liable or responsible to Purchaser for any disease, injury, or accident to the Mare.

A licensed veterinarian must examine the mare within thirty (30) days after the last breeding date and advise Canterbury Farm in writing of the mare's pregnancy status or the return privilege would be forfeited.

All bred mares must be vaccinated against Rhinoneumonitis at 5, 7 & 9 months post breeding or all rights to breeding due to a termination of pregnancy do not apply. All receipts pertaining to these vaccinations must be produced on request.

Shipments on weekends and holidays are often not available so please order early. To ensure satisfaction we must have good communication with the Mare Owner.

Canterbury Farms will provide three straws of frozen semen upon payment of fees and acceptance of this contract. Any excess straws not used are to be returned to Canterbury Farm's account at Westgen in good condition.

If a written statement from a licensed veterinarian verifies that the mare is not in foal or has aborted it is agreed that the Stallion Owner shall arrange to send up to 3 more straws at $150.00 each plus shipping costs.

If a live foal does not survive the first week the Mare Owner may apply to Canterbury Farm to rebreed the Mare for a reduced fee.

In any event, no more that two (2) breeding seasons (or 6 straws) will be honored.

VETERINARIAN’S INFORMATION AND SIGNATURE SHEET

THE BOTTOM OF THIS SHEET MUST BE SIGNED BY THE INSEMINATING VETERINARIAN AND RETURNED BY SEPTEMBER

PRIOR TO INSEMINATION THE RECIPIENT SHOULD MUST HAVE NEGATIVE CYTOLOGY AND BACTERIOLOGY EXAMS.

THE ESTRUS PERIOD OF THE MARE SHOULD BE MONITORED CLOSELY BY RECTAL PALPATION AND ULTRASONOGRAPHY (AT LEAST ONCE DAILY).

IDEALLY MARES SHOULD BE BRED ONLY ONCE WITHIN 12 HOURS PRIOR TO OVULATION OR 6 HOURS AFTER.

THE SEMEN SHOULD BE MAINTAINED UNDER LIQUID NITROGEN UNTIL THE TIME OF THAWING. THREE STRAWS WILL BE SENT AT THE TIME REQUESTED AND WITH THE ACCEPTANCE OF EACH CONTRACT..

THAWING OF THE 2.5 ml. STRAW SHOULD BE DONE BY QUICKLY AND COMPLETELY SUBMERGING IT IN WATER AT FIFTY (50) DEGREES CENTIGRADE (APPROX 120 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT) FOR FORTY (40) SECONDS. THE STRAW SHOULD BE AGITATED CONTINUOUSLY.

AFTER REMOVAL FROM THE WATER, THE STRAW IS DRIED, ONE END IS CUT AND THE SEMEN PLACED IN A 5 ml. SYRINGE.

INSEMINATION SHOULD BE PERFORMED WITH A REGULAR AI PIPETTE, MAKING SURE THAT THERE IS NO SEMEN LEFT IN THE PIPETTE.

UNDER IDEAL CIRCUMSTANCES ONLY ONE (1) STRAW SHOULD BE USED PER INSEMINATION.

THE CONCENTRATION FOR EACH DOSE WAS CALCULATED TO BE ONE (1) BILLION TOTAL SPERMATAZOA.

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A NEGATIVE RESULT IN THE FIRST CYCLE BRED NOT DISCOURAGE THE USE OF FROZEN SEMEN. THE BEST INDICATOR WILL BE THE CONCEPTION RATE AFTER THREE CYCLES.
